I have been accused of being a man hater four times this week. Appalling isn't it? I do not HATE men. I strongly dislike disrespectful men and find it hard to keep my sassy mouth shut when I come across them. My sisters often tell me that my expectations of the opposite sex are slightly high. I disagree and think that their expectations of men are slightly low.
Every woman deserves to feel beautiful and I fully believe who we choose to date often dictates our feelings about ourselves. I have a problem with men who make women feel insecure about their weight, clothes, or opinions. It infuriates me to hear of women who are not allowed to have male friends or aren't allowed to choose their clothing. I was once a woman who let a man tell me who I was. He told me what to wear and he also told me who my friends were. It took me a long time to break away from the cycle. Once I did I made a promise to myself that I would never fall back into that kind of relationship or stay quiet when I felt like another woman I cared about was.
My number one rule with myself is this- I will not allow a man to treat me any less than what I would expect my sisters or mother to be treated.
This rule has nothing to do with materialistic things. I will date a respectful bum out of a box before I will be disrespected by a man with money. All the money in the world cannot buy a woman's happiness. (Even if she thinks it can)
My point is this- It does not cost money for a man to open your doors. It does not cost anything for him to pick some half dead wild flowers on the side of the road and put them in an old mason jar. It will not cost him a penny to tell you your beautiful daily. It defiantly does not cost him ANYTHING to make sure you KNOW he cares about you, believes in you, and supports anything and everything you decide to do.
I do not hate men. I hate that women are allowing men to treat them less than what they deserve. I hate that in today's society woman are accepting men into their lives that have no cooth.
