The last few months I have been attending life church. It seems to work for all the women in my family. Not only do we get a little bit of Jesus on Sunday mornings but we also get our "lady time" as well. The series we are currently studying is called "Forgotten Virtues." Today we looked at purity with Pastor Greg Groeschel's wife Amy. We first discussed what purity means. What it means to be pure in the eyes of our local church goers and what it means to be pure in the eyes of Christ. She explained purity as being more like Christ. Pure from the negativity of today's world. Somewhere in the message she began to discuss the clothes that women wear and what they say about who we are. Do they say we are easy or do they say we are sexy? Confident or trashy? It's sometimes hard to tell. Of course any fashion forward woman can spot another who is mismatched or wearing spring colors in the fall. Most of us can pick out a tacky knock off hand bag paired with last years shoes. We can pick out wardrobe malfunctions all day long. But can we pick out the clothes that say I am living for Christ? Are any of us dressing that way? How do we as women show that we are living and dressing for our Lord? More importantly how do we teach our sisters and daughters this Godly fashion? In Amy's opinion if you don't know if it's appropriate, don't wear it.
Today after much thought I decided it's time to break up with the clothes that don't say the right things about me. This is something I hope every woman takes the time to do. In reality if we are dressing provocatively it's probably to attract a man. I want a man who loves me for my heart and mind, not my low cut shirt. While it is easy to reach in the closet and grab that sexy black tank top that really shows off the "girls" for a first date, it's not sending the right message. Strong confident woman are beautiful because of WHO they are. It has nothing to do with how much skin they show.
Breaking up may be hard to do, but I am confident that changes made for Christ are well worth the sacrifice.
MAT 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Love it! SO TRUE!!!!
